Legal Notice:
The Town of North Stonington is requesting bids on a Drainage Project including drainage pipe, catch basins, manholes, etc. This is a prevailing wage job, 18’ depth in one area under an existing gas line. Specifications will be available on Monday, November 2, 2009, bids will be due on November 23, 2009 at 3:00 PM local time. The Town reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids in the best interest of North Stonington or in the event funding does not become available.

The Town of North Stonington is requesting bids from contractors for
Job 1
Description: The Town of North Stonington Board of Selectmen is requesting bids for the installation of approximately 450 LF of 36” HDPE pipe and a new 10’ manhole to carry stormwater from the intersection of Kingswood Drive and Old Colony Road to an outlet point on Ravenwood Road. A section of the installation involves trench depths of 18+ feet.
Also required is removal of 4 existing catchbasins sumps and associated piping and replacing them with 4 new catchbasins and connecting piping. (See plan details)

Description: Installation of approximately 990 LF of 15” HDPE drainage pipe and the replacement of 6 catchbasins and sumps on Old Colony Road. (See plan details)
Sealed Bids for the above work will be received at the office of the Board of Selectmen, 40 Main Street, North Stonington Connecticut 06359 until 3:00 PM., prevailing time, on November 23, 2009, at which place and time said bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.
Copies of the Contract Documents may be examined and obtained at the office of the Town of North Stonington, 40 Main Street, North Stonington, Connecticut 06359.
Modifications to the Contract Documents will be made only by written Addenda, duly issued by the Town of North Stonington. Addenda, if issued, will be sent by certified mail, return receipt requested, no later than five (5) calendar days prior to the date fixed for opening bids.
The chosen Contractor shall complete the work within the time limits set forth in the “Instructions to Bidders”.
Addenda to bid documents may be issued up to five days prior to bid opening and will be issued to all plan holders in writing.
Bid modifications and withdrawal are allowed up to the time of bid opening.
All contracts are subject to meeting MBE/WBE requirements.
Contractors interested in submitting a bid for the above described work must submit their bid on a prescribed Bid Form, provided for this purpose with the Specifications. All blank spaces shall be filled in, in ink or typewritten.
Each bid submitted must be accompanied by a Certified Check or a Bid Bond in the amount of 10% of the total amount of the tendered bid and made payable to the order of the Town of North Stonington.
The Contractor awarded the work will be required to furnish a 100% Performance Bond and 100% Labor and Materials Bond.
Contracts will be awarded to the lowest, responsible, responsive and qualified bidder. The Town of North Stonington reserves the right to accept any bid or to reject any or all bids should the Board of Selectmen deem it to be in the public interest to do so, or to delete or reduce the scope of any work in order to bring the cost within available funds.
All prospective bidders shall take note that State of Connecticut prevailing wage rates are to be paid on this project and adhere to any and all applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulations.
The Town of North Stonington reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, should the Town deem it to be in the public interest to do so, or to delete or reduce the scope of any work in order to bring the cost within available funds. The Town also
reserves the right to accept or reject bids based on the availability of State Grant Funds for this project.
