H1N1 Vaccination Update
Ledge Light Health District is pleased to announce that they have expanded
Pre-Registration for their first H1N1 Vaccination Clinics to healthy, non-asthmatic, non-pregnant people between the ages of 5 and 49 who live with or provide care for an infant under the age of 6 months.
Pre-Registrations from healthy, non-asthmatic children aged 2 to 4 continue to be accepted.
Clinics will be held on October 20, October 21 and October 23; times and locations are available during Pre-Registration. Eligible residents of East Lyme, Groton, Ledyard, Lyme, Old Lyme, New London, North Stonington, Stonington and Waterford can Pre-Register on the District's website at www.ledgelighthd.org or by calling 860.448.4882, option 2. Messages left over the weekend and after business hours will be returned as quickly as possible.
"Because the infants themselves cannot be vaccinated, it is crucial that the people who are around them most are. This is the best way to prevent these most vulnerable members of our community from getting H1N1" said Baker Salsbury, Director of Health. "This includes their day care providers, their parents and their older siblings, who may bring the virus home from school."
Because the vaccine that will be used at these clinics is the "FluMist” Vaccine, pregnant women, people with asthma and people under 2 or over 49 cannot get this vaccine. Clinics for these groups will be announced as soon as appropriate vaccine is received by the Health District.
